Preventing Bed Bugs

One way to prevent the infestation by bed bugs is by able to recognize these annoying insects. You need to look for them carefully since they are very tiny insects. The common characteristic of the nymphs or the young ones are super tiny which is 5 mm in length, they can be invisible, and they have white, yellowish color. As for the adult ones, they are easier to spot. Their characteristics such as an oval-shaped body, red-brownish color, the size are like apple seed which is around 5 to 7 millimeters, flat body, and they have an antenna as well as unusable wings.

How To Prevent Bed Bugs?

When it comes to preventing bed bugs, we need to stop them from entering and feeding in our environment. They tend to hide in the crevices or crack of our walls, furniture, flooring, as well as mattresses. They also hide in our bedroom. If you find these bugs in more than one room, it means that your home is already in a severe infestation. There are items that can be their place for hiding such as used furniture, bedding, new furniture, luggage, couch, chairs, sofa, storage box, shipped items, pillow, and pillowcase. These bugs tend to live in messy and unsanitary conditions. But there is some case where they live in sanitary conditions too.

If you want to control the infestation you need to:

  1. Avoid any furniture or items which can be impacted by these bugs.
  2. When you want to pick any item or furniture, it’s better to check if it has seams, cracks, or crevices because they tend to live there.
  3. Change bedsheets regularly to prevent them habit there.
  4. Washing bedding, clothing, blanket, carpet, and pillowcase with hot water and tea tree oil. Lavender oil also works great.
